Pattern Testing
Renaissance Blackwork Shirt & Chemise
Thank you so much!
I really appreciate your help in testing my upcoming pattern!
While I hope it’s nearly ready to publish… it is a draft and I am human. I appreciate every mistake you spot, or piece of feedback you have!
Here’s what I know still needs to be done…
I still need to convert a few tables and measurement references to imperial (inches etc), I will before it is published. There are a couple of cutting plan documents that I would like to re-format as well. The instructions are currently being reviewed by a sewing pattern editor.
I am also working on the sew along / video tutorial while you are completing this test.

I’d love your feedback as you have it, and would love if you could complete your test and feedback by the 22nd of September. I really want to release it this month!

What am I hoping for? Your feedback!
I would love if you made any version of the pattern, shirt or chemise and either of the sleeve options.
You do not need to make the embroidery, but if you happen to look over the stitching guide, I would love your feedback on that too!
I’m keen to hear about everything you notice! I’m dyslexic so there will absolutely be typos, any steps unclear or errors in the pattern.
I am looking for your thoughts on fit, particularly wrist and neck measurements and length of the garment. I also suspect I may need to have a better explanation for when and how to add additional seam allowance (when the fabric width is smaller than the main body pattern piece.
There is also the beginners guide, which I would welcome your feedback. I don’t have a sewing background there are things I miss or explain strangely, or don’t even know the convention. If you spot anything, please let me know!
I would also love to know what you would expect to see for it’s price.
Here is a quick feedback form to help with specific questions - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdyY3tvXUL9FLSRhKQTI5low1OOMJGxVVdA3vg5zKfqJr770Q/viewform?usp=publish-editor -
There are detailed cutting plans & a yardage table to help.
I am happy if you use a soft, worn in cotton sheet from the thrift/op shop for this test!
Otherwise, I recommend cotton muslin, lawn, poplin, or light linen or linen blend. -
Feel free to give me rolling feedback, and ask any questions you have when you have them.
You can message me on Instagram or email atelier.arden.official@gmail.com
Facebook messages are harder to check so if possible, please preference, Insta and email.
